Runners Toward the Future is a new 3-year Mentoring Programme that Hayat Sende Association will start its first year’s implementing from November 2017 to May 2018.
The programme aims to support children growing up under institutionalised state protection and care-leavers via mentoring, strengthening life skills, providing guidance on career planning and preparing them for professional life.
During the first three years of the programme a number of mentoring methods will be tried out. This will serve as a pilot to develop a larger programme that can be adopted by the many associations in Turkey that work with care leavers and children in state care. Over three years, the programme plans to reach 157 mentees: 75 aged 18-22 and 82 aged 15-18 years of age, of whom 70% should be female.
The programme has 2 key objectives:
● Keeping children and young people who are under state protection, (aged 15 to 22 years old) in the education system and supporting them in career planning.
● Enhancing life skills, social participation, boosting self-confidence and self-esteem in children and young people and enabling them to discover their own potential and personal abilities.
We look forward to sharing updates with you as the programme progresses!
