Runners Toward the Future Mentoring Project was initiated with 20 mentee-mentor matchings in 2017 with the support of Dalyan Foundation. At first, the project is aimed for three years. The project is intended to support children and young people raised in state care to keep them in the education system, to empower them to be change-makers of future and to enhance their skills and abilities for the business life after university.
Scholarships for 47 university students from 13 cities, summer camp for those young people and the mentoring program are covered by individual donors. In the project, one to one and group mentoring activities are carried out. Mentors are people who have gained experience in their own career life. For this reason, mentoring is very unique opportunity for young people in state care. The preparations of the project was successfully completed in 2017 so hard work has begun on November 2017. Now, the project finalized its first 7 months implementation period and reached out its first year’s goals. Runners Toward the Future is planned to reach out 20 young people in the first year and it will be 157 young people in three years.
